Summary/Abstract: Educazione civica in Italy was introduced to schools by the country’s illustrious prime minister Aldo Moro. It was not a separate subject, and it was without an independent vote. Is has been neglected for many years. In 2010, a reform took place and a new name was given to the subject: Cittadinanza e Costituzione. Italian security education in schools received good notes in ICCS report. Given the anniversary, it is now a subject of interesting reflections, also in light of the European Unions’ active promotion of the idea of active citizenship.
