AIR POWER TRANSFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY

Summary/Abstract: Air power is the third dimension of military power along with land and naval power. In spite of passing only a century between the first flight of the plane in 1903 and 2000s, the change in the air power and with its key element aircraft is tremendous. There is a correlation between the acceleration of technology development and the transformation of air power on the second half of the 20th century. Particularly in the 1990s, the change of technology and air power is the basis of discussion of the concepts of transformation and RMA. The relationship between aircraft generations and technology is the most evident proof of the transformation of air power. In this article the transformation of air power is discussed under the headings of mental dimension (concept-doctrine-theory), its use in operations, and education and arms-equipment. The relationship between transformation and technology was demonstrated through aircraft generations and the use of aircraft in operation.
