Summary/Abstract: The lower Olt Valley is the main geographical area where Dudeşti and Vădastra cultures evolved during the Developed Neolithic and Early Eneolithic. Archaeological research carried out at Dudeşti and Vădastra sites has led to the discovery, among other artifacts, of a large number of figurines, mostly anthropomorphic. This article is based on the direct study of 34 figurines from a total of 37 and is mainly the work of researcher Marin Nica and archaeologist Mihail Butoi. Most of them were discovered at Farcaşele, in the well-known settlement locations ‘Pe Coastă’ and ‘Cimitir’, Drăgăneşti Olt ‘Centrul Civic’ and Slatina ‘Crişan II’. Among these, 11 are unpublished and unfortunately very fragmented and consequently it is difficult to include them in a typology. Only a few can be classified in the vertical position and no figurines in the sitting position. Generally, the figurines symbolize certain magical-religious manifestations, while being the expression of artistic inclinations.
