Summary/Abstract: In this study called “Saçaklızâde Muhammed Maraşî’s Scholarly Identity and His Basic Opinions in Kalam” we have examined the scholarly identity, works and opinions of kalam of Sacaklizade, an Ottoman scholar who lived in 18th century. In this study, we first evaluated his life and his works briefly. Then we comparatively discussed the topics such as the essence and attributes of Allah, the creed and the prophethood while studying the scholarly standpoints of the author. It is seen that the author paid attention to the inaccuracies in the educational programs in the scientific madrasas of his time and he wrote the works on the subjects required in order to solve the problems that appeared and criticized the situation and made recommendations. If we consider Saçaklızâde’s works and opinions in this context, it is evident that he was quite conservative for his time. It can be seen that in topics of creed, his mentality was totally against philosophy and the philosophical sciences. He followed the classical way in basic Islamic sciences. His personal opinions were close to the Salafi school. It can be concluded that the reason of Saçaklızâde’s refutations and stand against philosophers is the result of Ghazali's influence on him.
