Summary/Abstract: The present study analyses current issues and challenges which the Bulgarian educational system is facing, and discusses the need to actualize teacher’s role and status according to the European strategies and national programs for better quality educational process in Bulgarian schools. The study aims and objectives seek to define the concepts of “animation” and “animator” by means of introducing the pedagogical dimension of the animator as an important element of teacher’s modern job description. The discussion of results compares two independent surveys which aim to clarify teacher’s awareness of animation, the recognition of an educator’s role as an animator and the extent to which that role is seen as an element of а teacher’s responsibilities.
