Original songs in folk style: a broad outline of the phenomenon

Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on original songs in folk style, a popular music meta-genre, associated with the cultural history of many Balkan countries. Original songs in folk style are very popular in Bulgaria too. The paper studies the problem in several lines: outlining the terms only broadly rather than exhaustively; naming and defining the aspects of the phenomenon so that to highlight its contents and salient features; dividing and grouping of original songs in folk style so that to systematise them in an integral area. The methods proposed herein of a defining and classifying system are just one of the possible forms of a broad outline of the phenomenon under consideration and getting to the root of the matter.
