Summary/Abstract: The present research is focused on identifying the forms of academic writing used for assessment purposes at the Applied Modern Languages Department and on determining their efficiency vis-à-vis the envisaged training purposes. While the undertaking uses a definition of academic writing, an inventory of the forms of writing used by tutors and an outline of assessment criteria as scientific prerequisites, it pursues an analysis of the students’ approach to the use of forms of academic writing for assessment purposes and their efficiency. The analysis is the outcome of a broader survey conducted through questionnaires.
