On Language Norm and Some Non-Codified Expressions in Serbo-Croatian

Summary/Abstract: The author clarifies problems of non-codified expressions and their place in standard language from the aspect of norm taken as a socio-linguistic category. Pointing out the basic postulates of norm in linguistic theory, the author advocates the treatment of frequent non-codified expressions in Serbo-Croatian language in accordance with the knowledge about standard language accumulated in 20Th century. He is against denying these expressions the place in standard language because of their structural incorrectness, or against giving them their place only because they have proved, in practice, to be normative and readily accepted.
