Summary/Abstract: The authors deal with the identification of the learning styles and strategies of English as a foreign language. The conducted research has shown that the dominant styles of learning stand out as an auditory and individual style, with statistically significant differences in their distribution between the sexes – male students prefer individual, and the female students, a visual style of learning. On the other hand, when it comes to choosing a learning strategy, students in most of the cases determine memory, cognitive and compensation strategies, without statistically significant difference in their choice between sexes, nor their dependence on learning style. The obtained results were analyzed with the help of the software package SPSS 20.0, while the relationship between the styles and the learning strategies of the students studied was shown through the descriptive analysis of the obtained answers.
