Summary/Abstract: In this paper we presented the review of oikonyms from Romanija, a region with Shtokavian dialect and Eastern Herzegovinian dialect type. We also brought in the oldest historical backgrounds for today`s characters of oikonyms in the region of Romanija, its semantic and structural classification. It has been observed that names reflect motives for nomination which served as stimulation for oikonym creation, while in etymological and formative clarity they reflect language and dialectic characteristics. Semantic classification proved that the most frequent motif in the nomination process, just in accordance with our expectations, is antroponymic structure, while in the structural classification we noticed the diverse formative models.
