Summary/Abstract: The pre-war edition of Wacław Grubiński’s Pagan Letters brought its author The Laur of the Polish Academy of Letters in 1939. The final shape of his work, however remained indeterminate until the post-war years. The unique character of the Letters is above all determined by three factors: reference to antiquity as a source of parabolic traits; the connection of fragments of different generic traits and, in narration – fragmentation. Pagan Letters being relatively short present a philosophically profound overview of reality surrounding man: though not the historical or cultural reality. The reality is presented in general terms, generating problems connected with the raison d’être of existence.
