Summary/Abstract: Social art is understood as a broad kind of artistic activities that intentionally containideological or political message. Political commitment in art, however has often come toa tragic and comic effects. Artists supporting totalitarian regimes such as Nazi sculptorsJosef Thorak and Arno Breker, or filmmaker Leni Reifenstahl discredited the very possibilityof making art a political tool. Focusing on the past mistakes, we should not forget aboutthe positive aspect of social art which includes sustaining collective memory or promotionof universal values. How photograph pictured today social issues? How does it help tounderstand the social changes that affect all of us? What is the impact of the construction ofour national identity? Considered in this paper, the problems tend to reflect and revise viewson the art of photography, the role of the artist in society, the importance of the concept oforiginality and the changes taking place in the play time of globalization.
