Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with a linguistic analysis of argumentation in German readers’ commentaries in the online media discourse on Gavrilo Princip. Argumentation as the dominant linguistic action in a selected corpus of online editions of the respective German newspapers of Zeit, Bild, Welt and Spiegel plays the leading role in forming, modifying and transferring collective knowledge in the corpus given, thus making it the subject matter of this paper, aiming at sketching the positions of the community in question in the discourse on Gavrilo Princip. This is achieved by means of argumentative forms (topoi) that are established through a linguistic analysis of the commentaries. In addition, the paper presents the intentions of the authors of the commentaries that are revealed, among other things, through an analysis of the recipients.
