Summary/Abstract: Dezső László (1904–1973) was a Reformed (Calvinist) minister and theologian, a significant ethnic-minority ideologist of the Transylvanian Hungarian minority, prior to World War II. He became a Member of Parliament as a politician of the Transylvanian Party (Erdélyi Párt), between 1940 and 1943. He managed to conciliate the traditional Transylvanian Reformed Church with Evangelicalism, and introduced these into his minority policy. As a devout Christian he was revolted against anti-Semitism, and saved Jews in 1944 by baptising them. The communist regime of Romania imprisoned him as a ‘Hungarian fascist’ between 1952 and 1954 and again in 1957–1960.He was rehabilitated only after his death.
