Summary/Abstract: The present paper is aimed at bringing to light some very important aspects of intercultural communication relating to Hofstede’s Uncertainty Avoidance Index. The focus will be on the European and Arab cultures, consistent with correlative aspects of social life, pointed out by Hofstede and other authors. The result is a study on the UAI concerning the Arab Countries and a brief look into the correlation of the UAI with the way society works, with the image of the self and with linguistic complexity in pronoun use.
