Summary/Abstract: The small right-wing parties in Bulgaria suffered defeat at the parliamentary elections in May 2013: their results were below the 4% threshold for entering parliament. The elections were soon followed by protests provoked by the appointment of a head administrator by the ruling coalition; these protests continued during the summer of 2013. At the time of these events, five right-centre parties (DBG, DSB, Greens, NPDS and Blue Unity) established a Reform Block (RB) with the intention of developing it into a unified political project. The Atlas Institute undertook interviews with parties from RB in order to define their exact ideological position and the initial distance between the parties involved. At the next stage of the study, the number of interviewed parties was extended to include parties outside the RB. At the meetings and interviews, a modified version of the Nolan Chart was used to assess the ideological orientation of the parties. The results and analysis are presented in this article.
