Summary/Abstract: The article discusses two books published within the cycle “Studia o Męskości” (“Studies in Masculinity”), both an effect of research grant “Męskość w literaturze i kulturze polskiej od XIX wieku do współczesności” (“Masculinity in Polish Literature and Culture from the 19th to the Present”). The background for the two monographs are numerous and methodologically diversified positions, of which all are synthetically discussed. The paper reconstructs the most crucial assumptions and reading strategies emerging from Tomasz Kaliściak’s and Dawid Matuszek’s books, which resort to psychoanalysis.
