Summary/Abstract: In order to successfully adapt the style of leadership to the organisational culture, the leader must first know which elements it contains. Different types of organisational culture correspond to different leadership styles. A leader in a particular organisational culture chooses a leadership style that best suits the assumptions contained in that culture, otherwise there is a chance they will not be accepted as a leader. A successful manager should evaluate which leader's approach to subordinates improves the quality of mutual relationships and, consequently, the business environment, as one of the factors of competitiveness. The subject of the research is to determine the leadership style that managers of Montenegrin tourist companies use in relation to their subordinates, during their direction in order to achieve the business goals set, as well as determining the organisational culture as a result of a chosen leadership style of managers. The research part of the paper deals with the analysis of the change in the style of leadership of managers of tourism companies, and whether the change in leadership style led to a change in organisational culture in the observed two time periods. The contribution of the conducted research is reflected in the fact that it will enable acquisition of insights into the dominant types of organisational culture in tourist companies in Montenegro, and leadership styles as well as their mutual influence, harmonisation of which is necessary for successful business and achieving the competitive advantage of tourism companies.
