STADIUM VANDALISM

Summary/Abstract: The article concerns psychological and sociological phenomena explaining the occurrence of stadium vandalism. The authors raise the issues related to this problem: presenting groups of fans badly by the media, manipulat- ing information for sensation or conflict between hostile clubs. They also consider the possibility of preventing deviant behavior at stadiums. It is foundation for discussion about the actual functioning of the security ser- vices during the sport events in Poland and in the world, including those events with the status of increased risk, as well as for marking the differ- ences in the solutions applied by them and for present the factors hindering the of conducting of such events. The authors point out many conflict situations are provoked by officers looking after the order, not by the fans themselves
