Summary/Abstract: The paper states the categories of brand names in advertisements in the contemporary Serbo-Croat press and explains some particularities of brand name as a linguistic unit through the discussion on the relevant semantic and socio-linguistic aspects of its use. The analysis reveals some features of social life by showing the characteristics of brand names and their use in advertisements.
