Summary/Abstract: In the light of the contemporary biopsychosocial model of disability, social exclusion is not an individual problem of the individual, but the situation significantly altering the functioning of the entire family system. Disability can be a cause of social exclusion for both the persons with disability and their families. Therefore, it is important to look for effective (formal andinformal, institutional and non-institutional) ways to support families with disabled persons particularly in those activities that enhance the quality of life of families affected by disability. The purpose of this article is to show the importance of social support and examples of good practice that prevent social exclusion of both the persons with disabilities and their careers.
