Summary/Abstract: Our intention was to present a short analysis of the semantic shifts in Turkish borrowings in the contemporary colloquial expression influenced by various socio-linguistic factors, and which are not given in Abdulah Škaljić’s book Turkish borrowings in Serbo-Croatian Language. We have come to the conclusion that the majority of the Turkish borrowings have acquired new figurative meanings, and that this is a basic tendency in the semantic changes of these lexemes. Semantic shifts directed towards the larger scopes of meanings are very frequent.
