Summary/Abstract: This study aims, on the one hand, to offer a bird’s-eye view of the work of Petru Cârdu, a bilingual writer and representative of the Romanian community in Vojvodina, Serbia, who has had a crucial role in preserving and disseminating Romanian literature and culture in the Diaspora and beyond it. Petru Cârdu’s activity as writer, editor, translator, active journalist and cultural animator is illustrative in this respect. On the other hand, by using as a support the collection of poems Complicitate (‘Complicity’), this study examines poetic themes and motifs employed by the Romanian poet from Serbia, also taking into account critique about the author and texts. The approach continues a larger project, materialized in a volume dedicated to Romanian-language literature in Serbia. By vacillating between postmodern playfulness and a seriousness that quickly turns into intellectualism, Petru Cârdu proves to be familiar with all the models of European poetry.
