Summary/Abstract: In the present work there is compared the imperial constitutions of Diocletian and Constantine I, both in terms of their consistency with the opinions of the classical Roman lawyers and at the level of the legislative technique of their imperial chancelleries, and an explanation of the reasons for the decline of the legislative technique during the reign of Constantine I.
