Summary/Abstract: The article entitled “The Signs of the Journalist’s Presence in an Opinion Article; A contrastive view on German and Romanian Commentaries and Leading Articles” aims to underline the signs of the journalist’s implicit and explicit presence in an opinion article. The implicit presence is obvious through language both in German, as well as in Romanian texts; the journalist is making assessments, is using word-play and is illustrating his points through collocations and metaphorical language. The presence of the journalist is explicit in articles due to the use of verb forms in the first person, in singular or plural, but also due to different statements, which unmistakably highlight his presence in the articles. The analyzed samples are extracted from the main German and Romanian press journals.
