Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the concept of social capital that is taking place at the level of political relations. As an example of relevant considerations, the author mentions the deep division of society in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The forms of these polarizations are manifested in the form of the non existence of bridging social capital, developed autonomous civil society and the existence of ethnic – national distance and prejudice. However, this division continues to be reproduced and transmitted in the form of the existence of a form of the political distrust and less developed forms of political participation. The central place of the division of society in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which were the reason for low levels of social capital, the author sees in the existence of a large national differences in the nature of the national identities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
