Summary/Abstract: The author explains basic epistemological assumptions of application of adaptationist programme in biology as well as social sciences. Adaptationist research programme was introduced in social sciences through several key papers written within the framework of evolution of behavior. These papers are discussed in this work. The author also describes the process of implementation of these theories into social sciences and the development of three main theoretical approaches, as well as the differences among them.
