Summary/Abstract: It is assumed that the most important functions of banks in Poland are related to the acceptance of deposits, granting loans or providing other financial services, conducted as part of the commercial activity of the bank. Institution implementing economic policy, both at the national and regional levels, have noticed that banks, due to their specificity, can be excellent tools stimulating economic programs. The purpose of the article is to determine the importance of banks as institutions actively participating in the implementation of economic programs. After determining their role in implementing the programs, the factors influencing the increase in the activity of banks in this area will be analyzed, and as a consequence the barriers hindering the further development of this banking activity will be analyzed.
