Summary/Abstract: Today, the urban population in all industrialized countries the world over is larger than the rural one. In the USSR urban population gradually increases, as every new census shows. The problem of urbanization has existed for quite a long time, and now no one will deny the great influence of the city and urban culture on all the spheres of national life. Without urban ethnography the picture of national culture would undoubtedly be incomplete.
