Summary/Abstract: The vowel Ы of the old-bulgarian language is preserved in its archaic way in very few places of the Bulgarian language territory. Traces of Ы are found in the regions of Shoumen, Targovishte, Pavlikeni, Drama, Seres, Haskovo, Xanti and in the speach of the Bulgarian Catholics.
