Summary/Abstract: In a paper published after the political changes swept our part of the world in the early nineties I questioned the resistance of the ethnology to political pressures during socialism and the nature of taboos in ethnological research. It came out that ethnicity along with the ethnic identification have been the neglected themes. Therefore it seems necessary to introduce the question of the ethnology into the discourse on ethnic and national identification.
