Summary/Abstract: The world we live in can be described by the phrase “the geopolitics of chaos”; it is invaded by information which mixes together truth and falsity, characterized by globalization and hyper consumption. Thus, education is in a state of error and incertitude. School is suffocated by the bureaucracy of classifications and examinations. Here the scientific paradigm of simplicity dominates. Education for change should be the axis around which a reform of education should be accomplished. The change we need now is for all mankind to focus its attention not on exploitation of Earth’s resources in the interest of the human cause, but on using man’s resources in the interest of Earth’s cause, which will thereby satisfy human needs. Such an understanding is considered to be “one of the greatest moral challenges since we came out of the cages”, “a moral challenge very challenging in itself”. Education through and for humanity can be a new kind of education which will take into consideration all dimensions of the human being. This new kind of education can represent a stage in the transdisciplinary evolution of education. The next step could be the elaboration of transdisciplinary curricula for the rediscovery of humanity, which would not replace today’s disciplines, but would create bridges among them. Transdisciplinary proposes an epistemological unity which leads to self-knowledge. Beyond the various interpretations of transdisciplinary, this new paradigm creates bridges between natural sciences and humanities, between science and tradition, between scientific thinking and symbolical thinking, between knowledge and being. Such a philosophy of education, well contended and supported by the educational praxis and appropriate curricula, could represent a possible path to self-knowledge – one of the keys of the training for and through humanity.
