NATO and the Wider Black Sea Region

Summary/Abstract: In his work, George Niculescu presents the main challenges to the security environment in the Black Sea region, in the context of the recent NATO enlargement. The article focuses on the importance of the Black Sea region from NATO’s perspective. As its new eastern flank, the Wider Black Sea region needs a special approach in order to boost the regional security and cooperation. The author identifies both the ways and the difficulties in achieving them.
