Summary/Abstract: Globally, according to World Alzheimer Report from 2015: The Global Impact of Dementia, the number of people diagnosed with dementia will increase from 46 to 131.5 million by 2050. Statistically, around the world will be diagnosed approximately 9.9 million new cases of dementia. Thus, a new case is diagnosed every three seconds. According to these report, in low and middle income countries, about 94% of people with dementia are treated at home. Unfortunately, there is no developed network of specialized care and assistance for people with dementia in many countries, especially in the Eastern, developing countries and Romania is a part of it. Many somatic medical conditions associated with the diagnosis of dementia increase the risk of complications and the need for care. Thus, the knowledge of the nature of the cardiovascular or metabolic diseases associated with dementia is very important in terms of diagnostic and therapeutic decision and the impact on quality of life. Therefore, careful consideration is needed of these diagnostic associations and the consequences they have on the different health system indicators, such as the duration of hospitalization and the rate of re-hospitalization, as well as the impact on the quality of life of the patients.
