Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article was to present names of shades of green in the texts gathered in the National Corpus of the Polish Language (NKJP), which is available at: http://www.nkjp.pl in the category ‘prose’ in the balanced sub-corpus. Linguistic data have been excerpted with the search engine PELCRA. According to the analysis among the nine names of shades of green identified in the texts of NKJP the most frequent adjective is seledynowy [celadon], which is used by prose writers, inter alia, in the descriptions of the sky and light. Yet, its frequency is relatively low, and in the field of verdancy the basic name, green, is decidedly dominant. Neither seledynowy nor any other name of colour plays such a role as błękitny [light blue] in the field of verdancy.
