Summary/Abstract: After the Second World War, due to the climate of the cold war, the resumption of cultural contacts between Denmark and the USSR seemed destined to bog from its very beginnings. The field of mutual relations was at first left to pro-Soviet organizations. A new development came about due to the visit and return visit of the ministers of culture of the two countries, in March 1956. The result was first an exchange program and a cultural agreement, in September 1962. Denmark does not close its eyes to the fact that the USSR looks upon cultural exchange as a welcome instrument for communist propaganda. Nevertheless, Denmark is interested in widening these relations. In the view of Copenhagen, they are important for the mutual exchange of information in the field of science and technology and also as a prerequisite for the coexistence of the Communist and the Western world.
