Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on a recent paradigm shift concerned with re-introduction of own-language use, code-switching and translation in foreign language classrooms. It offers some practical suggestions for activities which integrate intra- and crosslingual startegies and approaches, suitable for students of different proficiency levels. The examples show how intralingual bottom-up and top-down processing, as well as process and product approaches can be used in translation/interpreting activities in class.
