Summary/Abstract: The concept and structure of the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian greatly echoes the basic division of life-existence of good and evil, of white and black, thus framing a feeling of geographical division also. Alexie draws the maps using chronological access to certain events by sequencing them from bad to good, from the negative to the positive. Through the characters he has created in different environments, Alexie potrays a community, identity and people and deals with issues of racism, poverty and the need to preserve the tradition of the oppressed people for the purpose of personal and collective progress.
