NATIONAL MINORITIES AS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR OF CULTURAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL INTERWEAVING IN THE BALKANS DURING THE 20TH AND 21ST CENTURY

Summary/Abstract: Diversity is one of the fundamental laws of life, but also the requirement for both, the better life and the better quality coexistence, as a precondition of unity is existence of diversity. Scientifically is found that national minorities are historical category emerged with the advent of the nation as a result of the complex ethnic mixing population, wars as well as because of demographic-migration processes throughout history. It is believed that in the world today there are only a dozen mono-ethnic states, which have 0.5% of the world’s population, on the other side today there are 5000 different nations and ethnic groups in the world. The existence of numerous national and ethnic minorities, testifies to us about the existence of many diversities in several segments, such as religion, culture, language, alphabet, traditions, customs, etc. In fact the mentioned and the other diversities such as multiculturalism of national minorities have contributed as a vital role in the social and cultural interweaving that occurred in the Balkans in the 20th and 21st century. Observed in broader degree ethnic minorities had a profound influence on the development of political national-state system and the overall social system in the Balkans, this attitude makes us to think that ethnic minorities will in the future be an important factor in multiple relations, as well as in keeping peace and security overall.
