Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the text-forming resource of substitution setting up a relationship between words, phrases and clauses .My main concern is to characterize the nominal substitute ‘same’, the environments it appears, scope of usage and function as a cohesive device. I apply the theory into practice by analyzing different examples, illustrating the text-forming nature of ‘same’.
