Summary/Abstract: Until the mid 19th c, flax was grown and sheep raised in Slovenian lands. These activities provided raw materials for the production of linen and woolen fabrics in home crafts, as well as in organized guild manufactures. Besides weavers in the guild shops, up until the mid 19th C peasants produced at home large quantities of linen and woolen fabrics for clothing and household needs. Starting in the 18th C, and continuing into the 19th C, various textile industrial establishments were founded. Imported and domestic industrial fabrics gradually replaced the home-made cloth.
