Summary/Abstract: Behaviour of sound in water varies according to water’s physical, chemical and molecular properties. The space between water and air is particularly important for sound. Water’s depth, salinity and temperature are also important factors related to sound’s spreading in water. Water is a part of the evolutionary and cultural heritage of human civilization. Because of its phonic qualities, water may be used as a musical instrument, both in real music and pedagogical practice. Treatment of water as a percussion instrument allows it to be used in music training, in realization of creative tasks related to music, and also as a developmental tool in musical training of children.
