Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to the unified concept of sound – sonority, derived from the symptomatic art events in the music of the second half of the 20th century. Sound treatment’s evolutionary transformations are being surveyed, and the acquisition of a new sound understanding, being a complex and compound phenomenon, emancipated from the dominating significance of pitch and its previously determined genre-semantic invariances. The sound phenomenon concept outlining elements are being formulated: its clarification as being an object of philosophical reality, an independent philosophical entity, with its own esthetical-philosophical value, being capable of carrying out important structure-defining functions, being an aggregation of parameters with different characteristics, and being capable to model and study its “internal-core” processes to an unusual degree, that are going on in the new three-dimensional musical art.
