Summary/Abstract: There are the oldest rock salt mines of Azerbaijan and the world in Nakhichivan. The history of the formation of the Nakhchivan as a settlement began with the removal of salt here. The stone tools used to obtain the salt found by the researchers here also show that the history of these mines is very old. With the removal of the salt, the region of Nakhichevan started to develop and the region was developed in terms of both cultural, political and economic aspects due to the effect of those coming here to exchange salt from various parts of the world. At the same time, a therapy center was established in the place where salt was removed, and the salt mines were used as a source of healing. The people of the region, who use salt for very different purposes such as treatment, prevention, protection from bad energy, have also created many examples of folklore related to it. According to folk belief, pouring salt on the ground, not wasting it. In the Nakhichevan dialects, salted words and idioms are also frequently used. In these terms, the importance of salt, the value given to him and the role of salt in the life of the people of the region is emphasized.
