SYRIAN IMMIGRANT WOMEN IN KONYA

Summary/Abstract: The issue of immigration is one of the subjects that are widely discussed in the social sciences. Being a contemporary subject and having a large research area, social scientists have directed this field. In particular, the forced migration among the types of migration significantly affects the lives of people. As a result of forced migration, people are included in a new environment, life. Syrian women also migrated to Konya to join a new culture, life style and social structure. The cultural differences brought about by the migration have forced the adaptation process. However, the benevolent and solidarity of the people of Konya helped the Syrian women to adapt more easily. In this study, the adaptation process of women who migrated to Konya as a result of the war in their country, their difficulties, their livelihoods and their socio-cultural life will be discussed.
