The Household Economy in to Mountain Community

Summary/Abstract: ASTRACT. The Household Economy in to Mountain Community. Regarding the kind of the household in Râsca commune, Cluj County, Romania, a field research discovered the following characteristics: 1. the economy of this commune is determined by the economy of the small land exploitations and just in a small part by the non-agricultural economy 2. the use of the manual work and of animals -due to the lack of mechanical tools, the lack of human resources for the work of the field, the small size of the estates, the ill-assorted type of the estates and the food needs of the expanded family on who's nucleus household economy constitutes itself, all these factors determine low productivity, and the rentability of agricultural work (by buying of the mechanical tools, of the land in order to accomplish the household fields amalgamation), remains just a desideratum. So, while the production surplus covers just the minimal needs of the extended family, while the surviving economy is the only economy that lasts, the economy of the commune household and of all community is part of a vicious circle with no way out. The perpetuation of the surviving economy by maintaining the pre-modern type of landwork represents the perpetuation of patriarchal economy of commune household.
