Summary/Abstract: The financial interests of the European Union have always been considered of significant importance in both the European and national legislation. Due to recent changes in the legislative framework determined by the enactment of the Directive for the protection of the financial interests of the European Union, many legitimate questions have risen on the effects and extent of the legislative changes. In this context, the author tries to comparatively analyse each indictment currently regulated by the Directive for the protection of the financial interests of the European Union and the Romanian national law that regards this subject (Law no. 78/2000). Moreover, in these circumstances, the author tries to highlight some of the struggles that courts have had when applying both national and European law and, in the end, desires to suggest the most appropriate solution for each issue.
