Summary/Abstract: The article describes and explains the connection between US media, the military industrial complex and the effects on violence on the social and political processes. It traces a chronological history of propaganda films at Hollywood from the First World War since nowadays. It also analyzes the relation between democracy and the predominance of violence in the society, stressing the whole spectra of a mythology of the idea of violence. It concludes on the effect the projection of heroic wars in films can have upon the way citizens perceive themselves as citizens.
