Summary/Abstract: The word Islam is an Arabic word. The meaning of Islam is peace, harmony; surrender of one’s will i.e. losing oneself for the sake of God and surrendering one’s own pleasure for the pleasure of God. Despite the peaceful intentions displayed by the Quran, currently we see a radicalization of a lot of muslim population all around the world, generated by many factors like economic poverty and social marginalization, the rejection of the western culture and way of life but also the will of islamist leaders to take control of their societies and hunt down the authoritarian elites that rule many muslim states. Indonezia is confronted with a revival of many Islamic groups, some of them being really dangerous for the national security.
