Summary/Abstract: This review article of a volume of poetry In the Beginning Was Love: The Contemplative Words of Robert Lax (Templegate Publishers, 2015), written by a life-long friend of Thomas Merton and carefully selected for publication by Lax’s student and friend S.T. Georgiou, introduces the poet to Polish readers and discusses the most important features of his unique, apophatic and experimental poetry.
